Privacy and data, answered.
The five privacy and data-handling questions we hear most before someone starts — what is stored, who can see it, how deletion works, what is encrypted, and whether anything is shared with third parties. Plain answers, in plain language.
What data does Mentriva store?
The data tied to your account is the data you put into the app: your conversations with the companion, your journal entries, and your daily check-ins (mood, energy, sleep, stress, anxiety). On Free the journal and check-in history keeps the last 30 days; Plus extends it. Nothing is collected in the background about what you do outside the app.
Who can see my conversations and journal entries?
Only you, from your signed-in account. Mentriva staff do not read private conversations or journal entries as part of normal service. The narrow exceptions are: you opt in (for example, exporting entries to share with a clinician), or a safety review opens on a specific account because you have asked for help in a way that requires it, and you are told when that happens.
How does deletion work?
You can delete any single journal entry, check-in, or conversation from your account at any time, and they leave the app immediately. If you delete your account entirely, the deletion is permanent and complete — your conversations, journal entries, check-ins, and account record are removed from production storage. Nothing is retained after you ask for it to be removed.
What is encrypted in transit and at rest?
Every request between your browser and Mentriva travels over HTTPS (TLS) — you can verify this in your browser's address bar. Account data is stored in a managed Postgres database with disk-level encryption at rest, and the database is reachable only from the application service in our hosting environment. Stripe handles Plus billing inside their own TLS-secured checkout flow, so your card never touches our servers. We rely on standard, audited infrastructure for encryption rather than layering a second one on top.
Does Mentriva share anything with third parties?
No — we do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, insurers, or third-party marketers, and we do not train advertisements on what you tell the companion. The narrow exceptions are the vendors that run the service for us: Stripe processes Plus payments and our hosting provider runs the database. Each receives only what is needed for that one job, under their own privacy and security commitments. The app does not embed third-party tracking pixels, advertising SDKs, or social widgets.
Still have questions?
Your first conversation with the companion is free, no card required. If you want to keep going, create a free account so your history follows you.
