Mentriva Health is an AI companion, not a clinical service. We're built for the long, paced work of mental wellness — and the long work is not always what the moment asks for. When the moment is sharper than a week of practices can hold, the lines below are the next move.

The questions we hear most about reaching out — before you call, during the call, and after.
When should I call 988?
When the moment is sharper than a week of practices can hold — thoughts of suicide, a sudden loss of hope, a plan or means you're not sure you'll put down, or a person in front of you who is. You don't have to be sure the call is 'necessary' to call. The Lifeline is staffed by trained counselors who help you sort what's happening, and the call is free and confidential.
What's the difference between calling 988 and texting 741741?
Both connect you to trained crisis counselors in the US at no cost, 24/7. 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) is primarily voice — call or text — and is the right move when speaking out loud is available to you. 741741 (Crisis Text Line) is text-only and the right move when texting is easier, safer (you can't speak out loud), or simply the format you prefer. Both are staffed by trained volunteers and are confidential.
Is it free and confidential?
Yes on both. 988 and 741741 are free from any US phone (calls and texts don't count against your plan), and the Crisis Text Line web chat is also free. The conversations are confidential in the way any clinical-style conversation is — the line can involve emergency services if there's an imminent safety risk, but routine calls and texts are private. You don't have to share your name.
What if I'm outside the US?
If you're in Spain, call 024 free of charge from any phone, 24/7. In Mexico, SAPTEL (55-5259-8121) is free and confidential, 24/7. For other countries, findahelpline.com holds a current directory of free, confidential helplines worldwide — pick yours from the list and the call is free from any local phone.
Will they share my information?
Routine calls and texts are confidential — the lines don't share your details with your insurance, employer, school, or family. The narrow exception is an imminent safety risk: if a counselor assesses that you or someone else is in immediate danger and you can't agree to a safety plan, the line may contact local emergency services to keep you safe. They tell you when this is happening.
Can I call on behalf of someone else?
Yes. If you're worried about a friend, a family member, or a person in front of you, the Lifeline and Crisis Text Line can talk you through how to help — what to say, what to look for, when to call 911 instead. You don't have to wait for the person to be ready to call on their own.
